Trip Information

  • What is included in the cost? 7 night stay at Forfar Field Station, meals (one night will be dinner out at a local establishment which participants will pay for ~ $25 a meal), lodging. You’ll be responsible for your flights and transportation to Forfar Field Station.

  • Fee: $200. Payment and a signed Participant Agreement secures your spot on the trip. Payment can be completed by:

    • Check: mailing a check to our office located at 1550 Old Henderson Road, Suite E268, Columbus, Ohio 43220; make all checks out to ‘International Field Studies, Inc.’

    • Zelle: We also accept Zelle payments. There is not a fee for paying with Zelle. If this is your preferred method, please let me know so I can send you our Zelle information.

    • Credit Card: If you would like to pay with a Credit Card you can pay through a PayPal link that will incur a 3.5% processing fee.

    • Wire Transfer: If you’d like to pay by wire transfer ($15 fee), email office@intlfieldstudies.org for the information needed.

If you have questions about ways to pay the full amount in smaller increments, please contact our office. Please refer to the Participant Agreement for details on refunds.

  • Passport: A valid Passport is required to enter the Bahamas. Passports must not expire within 6 months of the dates you will be staying in The Bahamas or they will prohibit entry. Please contact the IFS office immediately if you do not have a passport or if it expires within the next few months.

  • Travel and Flights: DO NOT PURCHASE FLIGHTS YET. We will let you know when you can purchase flights. Please see below for flight specifications into Andros.

    • Volunteers will be responsible for obtaining their flights to and from Forfar. We highly recommend flying into Nassau (NAS) and booking a separate connecting flight to Fresh Creek, Andros with LeAir.

    • Make sure you arrive in Nassau before 12:45 pm on December 12th to ensure you have enough time to go through immigration/customs/security and make your afternoon connection flight to Andros. Make sure you do not book a flight home from Nassau before 12:00 pm on the 19th to ensure you make it to Nassau with enough time to go through security and US Customs.

    • When booking your flight from Nassau to Andros on the 12th, be sure to choose the afternoon flight (3pm) on LeAir. Vice versa, when booking your LeAir flight from Fresh Creek, Andros back to Nassau on the 19th, be sure to choose the early morning flight (7am).

    • If you need advice or run into trouble on booking your flights, please don't hesitate to email me or call me at the office at 614-268-9930.

Please email me a copy of your Nassau and LeAir (or other flight plan) itinerary, along with the best phone number to reach you while traveling, once you purchase your flights. I will be putting together a spreadsheet of everyone’s contact info and flight info and will be sure to share this with you before the trip.

    • Our flight recommendations in summary:

      • Land in Nassau before 12:45 pm on December 12th, 2026.

      • Book a LeAir round-trip flight

        • Depart Lynden Pindling Intl., Nassau at 3:00 pm on December 12th, 2026. Arrive Fresh Creek, Andros at 3:15pm.

        • Depart Fresh Creek, Andros at 7:00 am on December 19th, 2026. Arrive Lynden Pindling Intl., Nassau at 7:20 am.

      • Depart Nassau back home anytime after 12:00 pm on December 19, 2026.

LeAir planes can only hold 18 passengers, so I encourage you to book these flights as soon as you are able.

Ground Transportation: Once you arrive on Andros, you will be responsible for your shuttle to Forfar Field Station. Taxi cabs are available at both airports (Fresh Creek and San Andros) and will be able to take you to the station (expect to pay between $50-65 one way depending on how many people/bags). If you're interested in ride-sharing with fellow volunteers, let me know and I will connect you before the trip.

      • We strongly encourage that you purchase travel insurance for your flights and/or research the rescheduling/cancellation policy of the airline in which you choose to fly. Delta and American Airlines have frequent flights into Nassau and may be a good option for your trip. We do not recommend booking your flights with third-party services such as Expedia, Travelocity, etc. as these services have very strict cancellation/rescheduling policies.
